FROM DAY TO DAY WITH COMENIUS |
|
Fjordvisit
During the last day in Trondheim our guests took the
ferry across the fjord and drove back to Trondheim along
the fjord. According to themselves, this experience was
really an appreciated one. They made several stops on
small places and were pleased with having the
opportunity to do this cultural visit! (01.06.2006) |
|
|
Cultural visits to neighbouring counties

Wednesday our guests visited the charming town Molde,
famous for its yearly jazz festival. On their way to
Molde they passed Trollveggen which, at 1000 metres, is
Europe's tallest vertical, overhanging rock face.
Between Molde and Kristiansund they drove the famous
Atlantic road which zigzags across bridges and
rock-fills from island to island right out at the
ocean's edge. (01.06.2006) |

Photos from the projectmeeting
in Omagh
If you click
here you can see some of the photos we took
during our stay in Omagh. The photos can only partly
describe all the nice things we
experienced in Omagh and Northern Ireland, but at least
they help us to
remember this wonderful week with dear friends, and give
us a chance to show to others some of the things we
experienced.(03.04.2006) |
|
|
Omagh is a town of friendly people!
That`s one of the things we`ve already learned here.
Everywhere we go, we meet generous people ready to
help us with everything. It`s nice to feel so
welcomed wherever you go. Yesterday we made our
presentations in the town council, so now they now
somehting about our school, town and cultural
partner. (15.03.06)

Goodbye
Trondheim, and hello Omagh!
The suitcases are soon packed, and we are eager to start
our journey to Northern Ireland. We look forward to
meeting old and new friends in Omagh during this last
project meeting. See you all very soon! (10.03.06) |
|
Soon ready for a new project meeting
The students who will be representing our class in the
final project meeting in Omagh during week 11, will be
Lilja and Samuela. We are sure they will both be good
representatives for both our class and huseby school.
(22.02.06) |
|
Comeniustrip to Omagh
This time there will be two girls re presenting our class
on the last project
meeting in Northern Ireland. All the girls in class have
been challenged to
write an application, and next week we will have
interviews in Engish with
the candidates. The result will be ready in the
beginning of week 4.
- Who will be the lucky ones?? (13.01.06) |
|
Classtrip to Berlin
In April we will go to Berlin in Germany with the whole
class, (around 50
students). One of the purposes of the trip will be to
visit two
concentration camps from WWII. Since November we have
been trying to save up money for the trip by offering to
take on different tasks. A huge task, but necessary to
do if we want to travel to Germany! (13.01.06) |

Good reflections during placement
week
Our Comeniuscollegue from Denmark; Charlotte, leaves
Trondheim today. She has had a busy week visiting
classes, the museum and also the town. We've also had
time to have interesting discussions, and we see that
our two schools both have much in common, and things to
learn from each other. (25.11.05) |
|
Teacher placement
This week we have a visitor from Denmark: Charlotte from
"skolen i
Enggardsgade" in Aalborg. She's here to visit our school,
but also our
cultural partner; Sverresborg Folkmuseum. She met the
students in class 10B today, but spent most of the day
in the department for arts and craft, which is her main
field of interest. (21.11.05) |
|
Thank you...
..to all our friends in Iasi who have been organizing
the project meeting. Particular thanks to Helene and
Daniela for their great patience. Also many, many thanks
to the Romanian students for the way they met the guest
students who "invaded" their rooms and school for one
week. It's been real a pleasure to see how good the
communication across borders have been during this week,
and we do hope you will manage to keep the friendships
you have made. (13.10.2005) |

"It's a long way to..."
... Bucharest airport! When the Comeniusgroup arrived at
the airport in Iasi very early Friday morning we were
told that our flight had been cancelled and that we had
to go by minibus to Bucharest. The students, who were
barely awake at that time, were really brave. We partly
slept our way to the capital, but also had the chance to
see more of the country. It was easy to see that Romania
indeed is a country of contrasts. (13.10.2005) |
|
Everything has an end...
... also the project meeting in Iasi. Thursday evening
all guest teachers and guest students were invited to a
farewell party in the school's canteen, together with
many Romanian students. We had a lot of good food to eat,
and both gifts and mailadresses were exchanged during
the evening. (13.10.2005) |
|
Presentation of digital diary
Thursday afternoon all the cross national groups
presented their result with the digital diaries they
have been working with. Many good powerpoints and also
some humerous comments here and there! Our impression is
that the groups worked well with their task. Now the
presentations will be shown for fellow students in each
respective country. (13.10.2005) |
|
Radio Trinitas
Teacher representatives from all participating countries
were invited to participate in an interview at Radio
Trinitas, our hostschool's cultural partner in the
Comenius project. A new experience for many of us, but
hopefully we made a good impression! (13.10.2005) |
|
Workshop and farewell party
Today we arranged cross national workshops for the
students. They were told to make a digital diary from
this week as a PowerPoint presentation. They could add
pictures taken during the week in theur PPTs. The
diaries will be presented by the students at the
fareweel party tonight. Tomorrow we have to get up at 4
o'clock, and we are not back in Trondheim until after
22h. A very long journey... (11.11.2005) |
|
Busy week in Romania
We have been having a busy but very interesting week in
Iasi in Romania this week. There is a lot of
communication between the students, and we have seen
several churches and monastries during our days here. We
have even been spending the night in one of them. A new
and exciting experience for all of us! (11.11.2005) |
|
Happy
birthday, Aron!
One of our friends from Northern Ireland; Aron, had his
14th birthday on Tuesday, when we were touring the
monastries in Romanian Moldavia. During our lunch at a
nun monastry, he was served cake and small gifts from
the project partners. He even recieved a card from one
of the nuns. Then we sang the birthday song in many
different languages! He won't forget this birthday
easily! (11.11.2005) |
|
Ready for departure!
We have now finished producing our suggestions for game
board and question cards for the Comenius project
schools' Trivial pursuit Game. Now we are soon ready for
departure, and hen finally, late Saturday evening, we
can see our friends from the other schools again. We
look forward to that! (03.11.05) |

DRAMA PERFORMANCE
This year, from September to March we are working with a
drama performance; "The lion heart brothers" written by
the famous Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. We have a
tradition at school settting up a performance every year.
It is always the terminal class (the 10th graders) who
are involved in this project. (26.10.André and Emilie)" |
|
THE TRIVIAL PURSUIT...
...gameboard is being designed and created in class 10B
this week, ready for us to bring to Iasi, Romania. Good
work so far! (26.10.05, Anita) |
|
OPERATION "A DAY'S WORK"
Every year we have O.D, that is short for ”Operation A
Day’s work”. This day we spend one day working to earn
money for different purposes. This year the money goes
to projects connected to abolishing and preventing
sale of girls and women in Brazil. The 27th October
nearly every student at lower and upper secondary
schools in Norway spend their day working to earn money.

THIS AUTUMN'S COMENIUS TRIP
This autumn the Comenius trip goes to Romania, that’s a
trip we have been looking forward to. There are two
students and one teacher from our class. And the lucky
ones from our class are Fredrik and Petter. We think
they will be good representatives for our class. The
teacher who’s going is Anita. (24.10.05, Emilie) |
|
Publication of Comeniusbook!
We are proud to announce that last year's Comenius
product; the common book on myths and legends, is now
finally published. You can downlaod it here.
Many thanks to our Danish friends in "Skolen i
Engaardsgade" for their good work with the publication
of our book. We'd also like to give acknowledgements to
our own students who have been contributing to the book.
Without you, this project could never have been realized.

Huseby teachers to
Denmark.
This week we have two of our teachers on a
teacher exchange with Skolen i Engaardsgade
in Aalborg, Denmark. Teacher Lars Petter
reports that it was nice to meet the Danish
students and teachers again. Not many weeks
ago they were here for the project meeting
in Trondheim. We look forward to seeing
pictures from the Danish school on Friday,
when Lars Petter is back again! (Anita,
27.04.05) |

"This is my Life"
For 3 months all the 9th grade students have
been working on a project in Norwegian,
called "The book about my life". They have
written about their life, their family and
friends, and important happenings in their
life. Most of them have also added pictures,
illustrations and other items or symbols.
Some of these works are really impressive,
and will without doubt be a memory for life!
(Anita, 27.04.05) |

Teacher exchange in
week 14
This week Sophie and Jean Michel from the
school called Ivry B in Paris will stay in
Trondheim and visit Huseby school as part of
the Comenius project exchange program. They
will be attending different lessons, and try
to get a picture of how teaching practices
are in Norwegian schools. They will also
visit our local primary schools: Saupstad
and Kolstad.
(4.4.05, Anita) |
|
Focus on Ireland
On March 17th (of course!) we started our
projectwork on Ireland and
Northern Ireland. We watched the film given
to us by Christina from Omagh, and then we
spoke about St.Patrick, and celebrated
St.Patrick's day by eating the snacks from
Christina. This week we continue our work,
by reading and learning about the
leprechauns. (30.03.05) |
|
Teacher Exchange
As part of the Comeniusproject there will be
several teacher exchanges in April. Huseby
will receive two teachers from Paris next
week; Jean Michel and Sophie. They will be
here to study our school and ways of
teaching. In the end of April Lars Petter
will go to Aalborg for a teacher exchange
there. (30.03.05) |

A
visit on board the Coastal Line.
Per and Anita invited remaining Uk-teacher
Christina and Romanian teacher Helen to a
morning coffee on board the Coastal Line
Saturday morning. With a marvellous weather
and a fantastic view, this was a perfect
start of the day. We guided our guests on
board the ship, and could admire the view of
Trondheim from the top deck. However,
what
seemed to interest our guests most was the
view of the fjord, with the mountains in the
background, covered with snow on the tops.
We stayed on the pier to watch the ship
leave, and many photos were taken by our
guests as the ship was silently gliding
away.(13.03.05, Anita) |

Closure program
This afternoon our first guests left
Trondheim, so today we've done the last
meetingactivities. Then there was time for
the final presentations in the amfi. All the
films made in the workshops were shown, and
so were some of the PowerPoints made by our
own students. Then there was the big
surprise: A farewell meal in the school's
canteen, where Sami food prepared by 9B
students was served. It seemed to be well
appreciated by all nationalities! (Anita,
10.3.05)

Bowling and
shopping
After the school the hosts and the guests
were allowed to go bowling or shopping
themselves. Most of the girls were shopping,
and the others were bowling. The ones who
went shopping were in the city. The bowling
was arranged at Heggstadmoen Bowling1 &
Gokart. All the guests seemed to like it,
and also the hosts. The hosts had to pay a
little bit, but for the guests it was free.
A special thanks to Andrè`s mother Tone, who
arranged this bowling! It seems like all
that played bowling are now better known
with each other. Fredrik B 10/3-05 |

Thursday
Today the students have been going back to
the reality of the school.
They have been making horns at the kitchens,
and as the easter is right around the
corner, some of the students have a "
easter-table" where they are eating fruit,
bread, traditional norwegian food like
browncheese together at one long table.
The guests have also been at the kitchens,
observing how the students work at the
kitchens.
All the guests and the students have
finished the filmwork. As the movies have
been finished, they will be shown later this
day in the Amfi. Some of the students have
also been working with handycraft, making
pillows, sculptures built of wood etc.
When the day comes to the end, we are going
to eat sami traditional food( Bidthus) which
is a course with meat, potatoes, carrots,
onions etc.
The day has a sad ending because the danish
students and their teachers are leaving
today. So we would like to say it has been
nice to have you on a visit to our school,
and we hope you have had a great time here
in Trondheim!
We hope you can keep in touch with our
students, and we think that they would be
happy for that!
At last: Thank you so much for your stay
here, and have a great trip home!

Tour of Trondheim
Tuesday afternoon, the guests, teachers and
hoststudents had a guided tour in the
beautiful city of Trondheim. We started at
the markedplace were we got our messages and
admired the statue of Olav Tryggvason, the
founder of Trondheim. We then went to the
cathedral, known as Nidarosdomen. Then we
went to the archbishops palace, where the
archbishop of Norway lived before
Protestantism became the main religion of
Denmark/Norway in 1537. The Old Town Bridge,
the oldest bridge in Trondheim, was our next
destination. After crossing it, we strolled
through Bakklandet, a distict in the old
part of Trondheim, known for its wooden
structures and visited the new docks area.
The newest bridge in Trondheim was also
crossed by the party of tourists and we then
went to the old docks. Up the street we
found the place we started and then we took
the bus back to our homes. The trip was
informative and all of us got to know the
city much better. (Hermod Arne and Fredrik

EDITING AND
PRESENTATIONS
Today the guests and the students have been
editing their films and making presentations
about vikings and other national symbols of
Norway. Many of the students are making
PowerPoints, which are to be
presented tomorrow. The filmgroups are
travelling around the school, stressing and
observing the activites of the students who
are working on other projects. The
filmgroups are cramped inside the small
editing room. Some of the students were
sledging in the snow, and everyone loved it.

PARTY!
Monday night we had a welcome party for our
guests. The menu was soda and pizza. All of
the pupils had a blast and we arranged
several competitions. We had a limbo
contest, an eating contest and a
drinking contest. Two of the prizes were a
chocolate bar and the third prize was a coke.
We had discolighs and music. Comunication
went well, everybody got along and all of us
were happy when we left. (08.03.05 Hermod) |

WORKING WITH FILM
Today our guests have started producing
films with class9B. They were divided into
groups of 4-5, with different topics.
Someone is making a film about our school,
others about the project that we are in (Comenius),
and also about Sverresborg Folkmuseum and
about our town. After having taken
movieclips and pictures, they started
editing the movie. For the guests, it was a
new experience to work so much with iMovie.
I think this day has been full of
experiences, not only for the guests, but
also for the students in 9B! The guests
surely have got a good picture of which
possibilities students in class 9B have when
it comes to working methods.…. (8/3-05,
Fredrik B.) |

A VISIT TO SVERRESBORG
FOLKMUSEUM
Sverresborg Folkmuseum, Huseby schools
cultural
partner was happy to welcome the class and
the guests.
The students took the bus there and the
teachers went
in cars. We were divided into groups and
were shown
around the museum. We went to see a ”Gamme”,
the
living quarters of the natives in Norway.
Also, we saw
the part of the museum concerning the
native, who call themselves the Samí. The
skimuseum was another stop where we were
able to see the skis which has belonged to
Norwegian skiing champions. The last
workshop was baking a traditional Samí dish,
a breadlike substans made out of among other
things, flour and siryp. Between the
snowball fights, I think all of us learned a
lot about the Samí people and their
traditions.

WELCOME GUESTS!
We welcome the students and teachers from
Romania,
France, Denmark and Northern Ireland. They
have become acquanted with their host
families and the school. The first day we
had presentations of all the students and
their schools in the amfi- theatre. Huseby
school was also presented. After the
interesting presentations, we had a 45
minute recess where we ate and played
cardgames. After the recess, the students
got a tour around the school to get to know
it. Now, the students and teachers are
fairly familiar around the school and known
among the students at Huseby school.

Arrival of
Comeniusguests
During the week-end most of our guests have
arrived. We've welcomed students and
teachers from Denmark, Romania, France and
Northern-Ireland. Hopefully the week ahead
of us will be rich in experiences of
different kinds. Official opening of the
meeting is tomorrow!

Week 10....
.. is approching! Today some of the students
have been working with the welcome party on
Monday evening. Others have prepared their
presentations for the official opening of
the project meeting. Some students have also
been rehearsing their English in order to
guide our guests around school. (Anita,

AIRBALLOONS
After a really cold night, with temperatures down to -15
C, the day has been wonderful. Still very cold, but a
perfectly blue sky and a shining sun from morning till
evening. We took the opportunity and sent up some of our
still remaining air balloons from last year. A wonderful
sight, and a great happening! (2.3.05, Anita) |

Students to Trondheim
Now, we finally have all the names of the students
coming to Trondheim in March, ready.
Here you can find a survey of names and electronic
adresses. A lot of our own students correspond already
with the guest students. That's somehting we really
appreciate!
(Anita, 16.02.05)
Teachers to Trondheim
Here you can see the names of the teachers, and
dates of arrivals and departures. Unfortunately, both
the Danish and French students have to leave before the
meeting is over, but that's how life sometimes is!
(Anita, 16.02.05)
Program
The program for the project week now seems to be in
place. There will be a variation of activities, from
presentations from 9B students, guided tours at school,
filworkshops with guest students, other meetings and
workshops for teachers, and some social activities, too.
We hope there will be interesting things both for our
guests and our students in class 9B. Have a look
here!

Students headed for Trondheim
We have now got the names of the students from Denmark
and France. We also know that three boys from Romania
will arrive Norway in March. We have also received
pictures and mailaddresses to many of the students who
will visit us at the project meeting. We send emails to
all of the students as soon as we receive their
addresses. (André, 19.01.05)
Work in progress
Here in Norway we have started making plans for the
visit in March. The program will be published when it’s
finished. We do hope for a good week when we receive
guests from Europe! (19.02.05, Valentin)
Hello everyone!
I can see that only four persons have so far been
writing in our Comenius guestbook. We would be pleased
if we got more greetings from you, out there!
(André, 06.01.05)
New year's eve!
On new year’s eve we in Norway often eat turkey with
family and friends. We use to dress up, and when the
clock strikes twelve we go outside and send up
fireworks! And then it’s time to send ”happy new years-”
messages and calls…
(Mette, 6.1.05)
3 minutes of silence
The fifth of January 2005 Norway and the rest of Europe
showed their sympaties for the victims of the tsunami
that took place in Asia by holding a three minutes
brake. Even the schools stopped their work and continued
after the three minutes. That shows that the rest of the
world is showing concern for those people. (Samuel,
6.1.05)
“MUSIC AND LYRICS”
Before Christmas we started a project in class 9B
called “Music and Lyrics”. We started with choosing a
song to work with. We translated the song into Norwegian,
and after that we wrote what we liked about the song.
Then we found some background information about the
artist. This week we have been presenting for the whole
class what we have come up with. Some have been playing
the music, some have been singing and playing, others
spoke or used a PowerPoint. (Marianne & Line, 6.1.05) |
|
Drama in class 9B!
Two days ago we watched the play that we have been
looking forward to. The play, called ”Glass” was a
result of a cooperation with some students from NTNU (The
university in our town). A lot of the pupils in our
class, have cooperated with the students for weeks. The
topic of the performance is about diversity in the life
of today's teenagers. Everyone agreed that the students
had done a good job. (André, 17.12.04) |
|
Last work before Christmas
This is the two last lessons with comenius work before
the christmasholidays. The logo is finished and sent
to Paris.
The rest of the work is on its way. V.M (17.12.04) |
|
Work progressing
We are working with different tasks related to the
Comenius project. Many are working on laptops including
us, the editorial staff of this website. Everyone is
very excited. Read more
here. (H.A.R. 10.12.2004) |
|
Pictures from the Paris meeting
We have finally published some pictures from the Paris
meeting on this webpage. Look at the link "International
activities" on the left side. We have learned that Paris
is maybe the most beautiful city in the world. We hope
you like the pictures! (AKF/MH 10/12-04) |
|
Hard work today!
Today we have been working with the design of our logo
on the Comenius home-page. We have many good applicants.
Some of us have also been working with pictures for the
book in the Comenius project. (André 10.12.04) |
|
CREATION OF OUR OWN WEBPAGE
As you can see we have started working on our Comenius web
page. Next week we have planned to
work more with
different Comenius-tasks, and the web page will be one of
these tasks. Join us later!
